Things to do

Picture
Beachcombing, creating stone sculptures, chipping out the fools gold, rockpooling, crabbing, walking, fishing in the quarry, BBQs, boat trips, kayaking and swimming (wet suits recommended) are some of the things you can do on the island. The large flat garden at An Lionadh is perfect for games of football, cricket, rounders, tag, all with a stunning view. Off island, there is horse riding, putting, hiking, island hopping, pubs and restaurants, castles to visit, villages to explore, endless possibilites. Oban has a busy harbour and  high street shops as well as independent shops which are well worth exploring.
But most of the time you will be happy sitting at the kitchen table watching the sea.

The Sea

The wild beauty and the numerous islands in this area have made it renowned for yachting and kayaking. Take a world class wildilfe boat trip with Seafari who are based on the island to see the amazing wildlife and if you are lucky watch the local population of bottlenose dolphins do their thing. They often come through the sound and can be watched from Easdale, a real treat.

Events

Easdale is famed for its World Stone Skimming Championship which brings 350 competiitors to the island in September every year. A great fun event which raises a lot of money for island projects. The community also have a very active Hogmanay which involves days of partying, first footing, a DIY ceildih, a football match, a loony dook and the famous annual sell out Easdale panto. An Atlantic fun day in August sees competitors swim the sound and run around the island along with lots of other activities including a raft race.
